Buying for Yourself Instead of Your Child
I’m going to be honest. The last time I stepped into a women’s clothing store (and actually bought something for me) was months ago. As a mom, I always head straight to the children’s department. This, has not always been the case. I used to love to go shopping. Especially with my younger sister. We had this down to a T. She’d hit the sales racks, try on all the womens dresses.
Nothing would fit, she’d pass it to me, I’d try it on, everything would fit, I’d buy it, she’d go home with nothing and I was one very happy person. My sister-not so much. It actually got to the point were she refused to go shopping with me. Just would not do it. Ahh the memories. I do miss the flat stomach and small hips (ya know-the “pre-baby” body) that would fit into anything I wanted. Oh and the shoes. I had 25 pairs of shoes that moved with me when I got married. (That does not include the many other pairs I left at my mom’s). Which I guess to some might not seem like a lot.
But now, I have 8 or 9. I’m not sure. I only wear 2 pairs most of the time. Shopping is just not fun anymore. I buy what I need and get out of there as soon as possible. I’d rather go to coffee with friends, or watch a movie. That kind of sounds pathetic, but at least if I go have coffee I’m being social. Thank goodness for my coffee rewards card. What would I do with out it?!? Mmm…coffee…See, the idea of having coffee right now is more appealing than even thinking about getting online and looking at websites. Oh so sad. 20 year old me would be so disappointed if she knew how I (well I guess “we”) turned out.
Although, I do have to admit that she would be highly amused at my 5 year old, and excuse the lack of personal shopping I do now. My sister on the other hand never lost her love for shopping. She always has the cutest stuff (as well as her girls). Maybe I’ll just go raid her closet….
